Benjamin Doss Jr.

Benjamin “Benny” “Pops” Harris Doss Jr., 71, of Pahoa, died June 7, 2022 at his residence. Born Oct. 23, 1950, in Hilo, he was a retired baseball umpire, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of Orchid Isle Umpire Association.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 6 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; celebration of life at 10 a.m. Urn committal service with military funeral honors to follow at Alae Cemetery Section I. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by siblings, Dave Doss, Desmond Doss, Linda Doss, Joann Willis, and Patricia Petkosek; children, Barbara (Alan) Alvarez, Shirley Filoteo Roaque, Alvina Santos, Vicki Santos, and Chential Santos; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Maxine Cazimero

Maxine “Honey” Bernice Cazimero, 83, of North Kohala, died June 23, 2022, at her residence. Born Oct. 27, 1938, in North Kohala, she was a retired food waitress at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and a retired certified nurse’s assistant at the Kohala Home Healthcare.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to Antone Cazimero, Jr. at: PO Box 466, Kapaau, HI 96755.

She is survived by husband, Antone Cazimero Jr. of North Kohala; daughters, Uilani (Bill) Neves of North Kohala and Kimberly Cazimero of Honokaa; sisters, Margaret (Gary) Caravalho of Waikoloa, and Sylvia (Charles) Hoffman of Rio Vista, California; sister-in-law, Lillian Ching of Hawi; eight grandchildren; one hanai grandchild; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
